Ida, See the Stars
The Jesus & Mary Chain covering Lee Hazlewood.
Herman Dune, The Enemy’s Gone But You Can’t Go Home for Shelter
Wilco, Not For the Season.
Dollar Signs, Snailhouse
These days I basically go out of my way to see the same handful of bands over and over and over again instead of seeking out new acts. Oops. Anyway, this means I’m kind of bummed that I’m going to miss Snailhouse (with a band) playing this Friday in Montreal. The snatches of new songs sound lovely.
This song opens his last album, and I still listen to it often.
Sad news about Alex Chilton today.
Andrew and I have pretty similar taste in music, but there aren’t many complete albums we both agree to listen to in one go. Our roadtrips are usually accompanied by snatches of miscellaneous albums, Ipod shuffle for “fairness”, Top 40 radio or like, Delilah. But there are some records we often have a simultaneous hankering for, like “Exile in Guyville” or any R.E.M. Big Star’s #1 Record/Radio City CD is high up on that list too. For some reason it hasn’t made the CD to MP3 transition to my Ipod, but it floats around the car and always turns up at the right time, usually when we’re just about to start yelling at Delilah or need to listen to something to perk us up because I’ve forced us to listen to Ys.
This song isn’t on that CD, but I love it.
Okkervil River, A Stone
Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters in “The Jerk”, “Tonight You Belong To Me”
“I really do want to kiss you, but I’m afraid.”
“I would’ve kept my tongue in.”
Happy Valentine’s Day, lovers.
